Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 leaked specs hint at Snapdragon 660, dual cameras

Xiaomi is seemingly working on the next device in the Redmi Note series, the Redmi Note 5. Specs of the next device in Xiaomi’s successful Redmi Note line-up have been leaked, suggesting that the Chinese smartphone maker will be launching two variants of the Redmi Note 5
Apart from the processor, the Redmi Note 5 leaks also suggest that Xiaomi may be bringing dual camera setup to the Redmi line-up for the first time. While the new leaks are all hinting at a very good upgrade from the Readmi 4 Xiaomi may still not increase the price of the Redmi Note 5.
Snapdragon 660 in the budget segment for the first time
One of the major talking points of the new Redmi Note 5 specs leak is the processor.
According to the latest set of leaks, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, bringing upper mid-range specs to the budget segment for the first time. These leaks come as a surprise, given Xiaomi’s penchant to use Snapdragon 625 chipset in several of its phones. As a successor, Xiaomi was expected to use Snapdragon 630 chipset in the Redmi Note 5.

However, if these leaks are to be believed, the Redmi Note 5 could end up as the true successor to the popular Redmi Note 3.

The leaked specs sheet was first spotted on Chinese social networking site Weibo, with the reference to Snapdragon 660 discovered by Gadgets To Use. The Snapdragon variant of the Redmi Note 3 featured the powerful Snapdragon 650 processor.

Snapdragon 660 gains in terms of power and efficiency when compared to the Snapdragon 65x series. It would be fitting for the Redmi Note 5 to feature Snapdragon 660.

Dual camera setup comes to the Redmi series
Other specs include a dual camera setup on the back, with a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. If this turns out to be true, this would be the first phone in the Redmi line-up to feature a dual camera setup.
On the front, the Redmi Note 5 could come with an upgraded 12MP camera. Rounding up the specs sheet, the Redmi Note 5 is reported to come in 3GB and 4GB memory variants, with 32GB and 64GB of storage respectively. A 5.5-inch full HD display, fingerprint sensor, 4,000mAh battery, dual SIM with 4G VoLTE support are other remaining aspects that have been revealed.

Pricing and Availability

Xiaomi is expected to price the Redmi Note 5 at 999 yuan for the 3GB model and 1299 yuan for the 4GB model. Availability details are not known as of now, but we should know more in coming days.

Chuwi Hi9 Android Gaming Tablet Review - Nope

Chinese device manufacturer Chuwi has already impressed in the 2-in-1 form factor business with devices that run Windows, Android, or both, and now the company is looking to expand into an unexplored side of the market that typically requires more than just an affordable mix of hardware and software. Chuwi stepping into the gaming industry is a rather risky bet, especially because this would involve investing more aggressively in powerful hardware capable of running more demanding tasks. But the company hopes to achieve a high customer satisfaction rate with the same recipe as before, once again going for more or less modest technical specifications paired with Android. The Chuwi Hi9, which is marketed as an Android gaming tablet, is the company’s first step towards becoming a gaming hardware manufacturer, despite the spec sheet that’s not necessarily breathtaking at first glance. [ORIGIMG=2] In terms of design, the Hi9 is barely impressive. The 8.4-inch tablet ... ( read mor...

Amazfit Bip Review - Second-Banana Apple Watch

Smartwatches have evolved substantially in the last few years, and despite the criticism this new industry had to deal with when the first models hit the shelves, more and more people discover the advantages of having a smart device on their wrist. Smartwatches are everywhere you look these days. I’m wearing one right now as I’m writing this review, most of my colleagues have one, and sales are continuously going up every year as further companies enter the market. One of the most recent players in the smartwatch battle is Amazfit, a brand that doesn’t say much too many, but which comes with products that are impressive in one key regard: the price. Smartwatches sold under the Amazfit brand are incredibly affordable, with devices that promise no compromises available for less than $100. This is surprising, to say the least, especially because the top smartwatches right now cost at least a couple hundred dollars. First of all, who is Amazfit? In just a few words, ... ( read more...
